Refresh, Unwind & Breathe

Sometimes we can all get wrapped up in the wonderful world of the internet, and we sometimes forget to unwind, refresh & breathe. All three of these things I think and believe are important, well especially breathe otherwise we are screwed either way. But today I wanted to talk & share with you ways of just switching off and what I like to do when it comes to taking a break from both real life & the online world.

Grab something comfy to wear - I love nothing more than sitting back and chilling in something comfortable wether it's pyjamas, chunky knits, whatever it just has to be comfy and cosy. Just this on it's own makes a huge difference to how I feel.

Find something you enjoy - wether it's scrolling through your instagram feed, reading a book, or simply just listening to music it's the little things that add up to how we feel overall, when I relax I tend to type blog posts, snap away on my camera & listen to music. All of these not only instantly make me feel chilled and happy but they are also productive......well the blog part is.

Eat something - For me as we are now in Spring/Summer I'm eating strawberries by the pound so a little sweet and refreshing treat is the perfect way to refresh your mind but also give you a boost of energy and eating healthy plays a HUGE part in how I function as if I eat rubbish food I tend to feel rubbish, there is just something about strawberries as a snack that makes my happy.

Unwind - Unwinding for me is something that I know I need to do more, since it's become something I'm getting on top of, I've become obsessed with the adult colouring books from Johanna Basford, These have really been helping me to stress less, worries less & live more. I find that colouring away takes my mind of anything that's normally whirling around in it. They not only are a mega anxiety & stress buster but they are super fun & honestly look to beautiful to colour in. I'm really loving the Secret Garden colouring book.

Refresh - Going for a walk, catching up with friends or even being alone with your own thoughts Is refreshing in itself, I love finding new places that I can go and explore yet I also love just being on my own with my own thoughts.

Even something simple like just sitting down in a quite room is refreshing and take a leaf out of my book and invest in some chill time.

Perfection....You Mean Complexion

After recently purchasing the Double Cleanse from Pixi & Caroline Hirons, I promised you all that I'd do a proper review so here goes......

IT"S BLOODY BRILLIANT!! I have been a long time reader of Caroline's Blog and love watching her Youtube Videos so when I heard that she was doing a collab with Pixi I knew instantly that it was one product I had to try out & get my hands on this year. Double Cleansing is something I do daily as it always makes my skin feel squeaky clean and completely free of the days face. But now both Pixi & Caroline have made Double Cleansing SO much more easier and much less fannying around. Pixi Double Cleanse is a duo of what I can only describe as heaven for your skin. One side is a cleansing balm and the other is a cream you use the balm side first and trust me this bad boy gets straight to work at cleaning and removing any makeup, it even gets the most stubborn of makeup off (including waterproof it's fabulous). Step 2. The cream cleanse is one of my favourites as it just removes that little bit of extra mascara that my first cleanse might of missed as we all know too well that mascara is an absolute pain to remove if it's waterproof. The cream cleanse I find leaves a nice hydrated layer to the skin and this on it's own is just beautiful too.

The important stuff......

Not only does this cleansing duo leave your skin squeaky clean and do exactly what it says on the pot, but it's 100% cruelty free (as are all Pixi products), vegan, paraben free, contains no fragrance & is just the dream cleanser as it also removes SPF as well. I have sensitive, slightly dry and oily in my chin and t-zone area skin (a mouth full I know), and this duo is perfectly fine for my skin infact my oily chin is a lot less oily and I truly believe and feel it's down to this product. It's not heavy at all and it doesn't leave a waxy/oily feel on the skin like other cleansing balms do.

Double Cleanse by Pixi & Caroline Hirons has made makeup removing and cleansing an absolute breeze and walk in the park. If you are lazy when it comes to removing makeup or even cleansing your skin then I beg of you to try this unbelievable duo it's truly wonderful and I've been raving about it to everyone from my mum to my work colleges.

Ingredients wise it's really great too as it's really natural. The cleansing balm is packed with Murumuru Seed Butter, Avocado Oil, Camellia Japonica Seed Oil, Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil, Evening Primrose Oil & Olive Fruit Oil. It's also rich in vitamin C, arginine and the peptide complex which combine to promote collagen, encourage renewal and diminish the look of fine lines as it says on Cult Beauty.

It's very easy to use as you simply pinch a coin sized amount of the cleansing balm, massage straight onto dry skin, grab a wet cloth and wipe away the days face. You then simply do this again with the cleansing cream.

I honestly can't recommend this cleansing duo highly enough. All round top marks for both Caroline & Pixi.....I mean you wouldn't expect anything less than top marks for the queen of skincare & beauty now would you? It is £24 but honestly I love this product a little bit more than my Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm & we all know how much I love that one too. It's worth the money. Be sure to check out Carolines Blog as if you have skin worries or are just looking for some friendly, honest advice she is the girl you need.

Set That Face

When it comes to setting my makeup I tend to only powder underneath my eyes & on spots and then leave it at that really. I never feel like I need to powder as I love a more dewy makeup look both in the summer and winter. However in recent months I have fallen in love with setting powders, ranging from Highstreet to Highend I love a good array of different powder products. So I thought I would share with you that array and pick out four of my favourite for either under the eyes & all over your face.

The first one that I love is the RCMA Setting Powder. I bought this after a recommendation as someone said to me how good it was & infact gave me a little sample to try it out, tried it out and straight away feel in love with it. It’s amazing at setting concealer underneath the eyes and on any troublesome spots it also doesn’t leave a stark white finish and look like you just grabbed chalk and rubbed it underneath your eyes.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, is one powder that I have a love hate relationship with, it’s fantastic all over the face but for me personally it doesn’t do a good job setting my concealer underneath my eyes, don’t get me wrong a really lovely powder but one I tend to use more in the summer months and only around my face not underneath my eyes. One thing I love hugely about this product is the packaging I mean it’s not fancy but it’s very small and compact enough that it can just easily be slipped into my handbag.

If there is one woman who hugely inspires me makeup wise it’s Charlotte Tilbury, you all know just how much I LOVE her products, so I simply couldn’t not mention her Airbrush Flawless Finish Skin Perfecting Micro-Powder. Now this powder is SO beautiful and sometimes If I don’t want to do foundation, I will skip it and will use this just on it’s own, it’s super finely milled to the point were you don’t even feel it on your face, it says “enriched with nourishing rose wax & almond oil for a luminous finish.” Which It really does. I can’t describe it but it gives a really healthy glow and look to my skin, honestly this powder is beautiful fantastic all over & especially underneath the eyes.

The final powder that I only use underneath my eyes and on spots is the powder that’s in my Bobbi Brown Concealer Kit, this powder is very very good at setting concealer It’s not heavy doesn’t go cakey half way through the day and doesn’t look or feel heavy on the skin, very light & lasts all day. I feel like bobbi brown have really got there stuff together when it comes to concealer products, the fact that it’s a little kit means I can take it anywhere as it’s so tiny and the perfect handbag size.

What’s your favourite setting powders?

Nude Lips Forever

When it comes to lipstick I’m definitely into my nude colours, so I thought I’d share with you my favourite nude lipsticks today that I keep alternating between, we keep seeing tiny teeny glimpses of the sun poking out recently and I’m loving it so with this in mind my nude shades I’m trying to move away from but I just end up coming back to them hahaha, so here is a run down of Five lippys that I’m LOVING right now.

Bobbi Brown Lip Color in 73 Pale Mauve - I’ve been eyeing this lipstick up for a while and just finally purchased it, it’s very very creamy and hydrating lasts a very long time has a semi-matte finish it is very full coverage. I love this one because it goes with a lot of my neutral makeup looks, it’s also amazing and looks great against fair skin. I also love Bobbi Brown Lipstick packaging it’s to die for.

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick In Valentine - This has become one of my all time favourite nude lipsticks and it’s sadly Limited Edition, it’s this stunning rose-petal pink that feelings so moisturising and it feels very creamy, the formula is amazing and this nude shade of pink is one of my favourites lasts well, with this particular lipstick I don’t feel like I need to constantly top it up every five minutes. I use this with my CT Pillow Talk Lip Cheat & it looks fantastic, It’s the most perfect shade of pink ever made. Charlotte Tilbury Lipsticks are by far some of the best highend lipsticks out there. They also smell incredible not that you buy a lipstick based on smell but just fyi.

Rimmel London Kate Moss 54 Rock ’N’ Roll Nude - It’s a peachy-nude pink and it’s effortlessly beautiful, I’m a huge fan of Kate Moss Rimmel Lipsticks as the formula is fantastic and they last a really long time, this one is no exception, high colour payoff and that rose gold packaging is the stuff of dreams, when it comes to highstreet/drugstore lipstick Rimmel are one of my favourite brands. This lipstick is again very softening and doesn’t dry out my lips.

Tanya Burr Lipstick in Birthday Cake - I LOVE this colour Tanya’s beauty brand is one of my favourites wether it’s for eyeshadows, brows or cheek products Tanya’s range is not only affordable but looks and feels wonderful. Birthday Cake is just gorgeous, the formula is very buttery and creamy, this one a lot of my friends love as it’s the perfect nude and feels lovely on. Packaging wise I mean Tanya has pulled it out the bag it’s perfect not too chunky and looks beautiful sat on my makeup shelf.

MAC Angel - What’s a nude lipstick favourites without a MAC Lipstick hey? Angel will forever be ‘my nude lipstick’ it’s just gorgeous this one is a Frost finish which I’ll be honest and say my favourite MAC finish is the cream sheen as my lips are always dry, however this one is surprisingly moisturising, it’s a very soft and pretty pink, it’s long wearing and doesn’t smudged or budge for that matter, I wear this lippy a hell of a lot and I just will never part with this lipstick.

in the wise words of Charlotte Tilbury “Lipstick is happiness in a tube!” & I couldn’t agree more.

What are your favourite Nude Lipsticks?

Holy Grail Skincare Round Up

A lot of you seem to really love my skincare posts so I thought today I would do a quick round up of the products I've been loving the past couple of months. I'm always trying out lots of skincare and beauty products and love nothing more than finding the good, the bad & the some what disappointing products. So here are my current skincare products that I'm loving.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm - I'm coming towards the end of another pot of this dream cleanse. I throughly enjoy using this cleanser when it comes to makeup removers I'm very much a balm kinda gal and this one is fantastic, it glides every trace of makeup off and makes my skin feel refreshed and squeaky clean. It has no smell which I love as most skincare products that have a perfume or scent to them tend to give me a reaction which is not good. This ones really gentle.

Clinique Moisture Surge - Pot after Pot of this moisturiser I have bought, it’s my all time favourite. It’s very very moisturising and instantly soaks into the skin, gives all day hydration and works wonders underneath makeup & is actually quite a good base. Very softening and perfect if you have extremely dry skin or sensitive skin, I’ve tried so many different moisturisers but this one I always come back to because it makes me and my skin feel great. Infact the whole Moisture Surge range is very replenishing and refreshing to skin.

Pixi Toner - I shall never part with this product as it's one product that has made a HUGE difference to how my skin looks overall, it's extremely good at brightening and refreshing skin, It's also fantastic on freshly popped or squeezed spots *yes I just went there* simply apply on a cotton pad, glide around the whole of your face and BOOM! refreshed and looking so much more brighter, for spots it's the best toner on the highstreet as this one if you apply some toner on a cotton pad and hold it directly onto a fresh bobby brewer (as I like to call spots) it will instantly calm and soothe it. All in all a god send and something I use morning and night.

Pixi Double Cleanse By Caroline Hirons - This is something new that I’m trying out but just a tip off it’s UH-MA-ZING. I’m a huge fan and avid reader of Caroline's Blog & Youtube Channel and she really knows everything when it comes to skincare so anything she recommends you know it’s good. I purchased this recently & I will be doing a proper in depth review in a few weeks time after using it more, but so far it’s another amazing cleanser that’s hit the beauty world.

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Facemask - I’ve lost count how many people I’ve recommend this to and how many times I’ve repurchased it, it’s the best fresh facemask I have ever used soothing, calming, refreshing and more. It just ticks every box. It’s very natural and is packed with Irish Moss Gel, Blueberries & Camomile which really helped to nourish and soften my sensitive & dry/oily skin. If you’ve never tried a fresh facemask then 1. you are missing out & 2. you NEEED to try this! it will change your skincare game.

Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado Eye Cream - It’s another product that I have bought pot after pot off because it’s the best eyecream for sensitive eyes, I have always had sensitive eyes and this cream seems to be the one that works the best for me, it’s refreshing and hydrating and when used underneath makeup, it makes my concealer and everything sit much better. A little goes a VERY long way with this product, it’s another holy grail.

& Finally I couldn’t miss out the famous Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream - I have extremely dry lips so I use this softening cream to hydrate them and boy it’s wonderful, I personally wouldn’t say it’s a cream I find it’s more of a balm meets oil but never the less this stuff is wonderful either on, lips, dry skin, spots, cuts, bruises anything it really is a miracle cream that even my dad who tries to avoid the beauty world as much as possible loves this too. It’s extremely good to use in the colder months.

That is everything that I always seem to have in my skincare draw or what has always ended up staying. I love skincare, so I hope that if you are on the look out for some skin treats to try that you think about the products above because honestly *places hand on heart* they are all fantastic and worth the money.

DIY Makeup Station

I have always longed for a little dressing table or area, where I can apply my makeup but up until recently I never had the room as the furniture was either too big to small or I didn’t like how it looked. So I decided to create my own makeup station or dressing table if you like and thought I would share with you my new lil set up and give anyone who is want to find a dressing table or do a DIY one some inspiration.

I decided that I wanted something that looked quite unique & quirky and be something that I loved, I already have some Alex Draws from Ikea so I didn’t need anything with storage. As the Alex draws already hold a lot of my makeup collection. I decided to have a little scroll through Urban Outfitters as they always tend to do furniture that I love and I found this shelf which was perfect and exactly what I had planned in my head. I ordered it and I love it. It’s not too big or too small and can fit my faces of the day on it and has plenty of room.

Here is a little glimpse into another Makeup look that’s coming up very soon…….

I just love how it looks very clean and simplistic without being to over the top and I prefer it to big old bulky furniture. If you don’t have the room for a dressing table or a section where you can do your makeup then honestly invest in this shelf it’s very sturdy, supports all my makeup & I think it looks good and creative. I’ve added a little mirror above the shelf as you can see, along with some of my brushes (which are not clean sorry in advance) a little fake succulent plant and a scented candle because why ever not?!?!?

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post let me know in the comments some of your favourite makeup brushes or products.

How do you store your makeup?
