Heatwave Saviour| Sanctuary

If you live in the UK like I do then you will know that we are currently having a rather gorgeous heatwave! Some of us love it others well....not so much....but as the temperature hit 40 degrees where I was the other day, I'm not complaining! One product that everybody NEEDS to own in this heat is the very gorgeously cooling & hydrating body sorbet from Sanctuary Spa and trusty me at 40 degrees this little gem is honestly a godsend and one summer beauty product that stands out for all the good & best reasons.

It's a cooling body sorbet that goes with a cooling body shower drench (aka a dream team). The body sorbet you of course use after getting out of the shower or in my case.....keep it in your handbag and have it with you everywhere you go, I simply squeeze a dollop of this dream sorbet and then just massage straight into my skin It doesn't leave an oily residue or a sticky feeling, it's very hydrating and just cools your body down completely.....the best part is that it smells divine and of freshly chopped watermelon & cucumber. Honestly if you buy one thing this summer make sure it's this.....hydrating, moisturising and cools your body down.....you can't go wrong....go grab a bottle drench your skin in it & then get out in that sunshine. It's one of the best hidden products on the shelves of boots! I can't recommend this highly enough!

Have you tried the Sanctuary Cooling Body Sorbet?

Blogging Photography | Tips & Advice

One thing I get asked quite a lot about is my blog photos, and for some reason you guys like the way I display things or take photos.....for me a single photo can tell SO much and a complete story on its own, it’s one of the most fun & cool things about blogging, creating an image that you like and others might like in return. So I thought i would share with you some tips and tricks today on blogging photography and share the way I do things.....Before I begin I would just like to say however that 1. I’m in no way, shape or form an expert in photography it’s just something that I enjoy & is a hobby of mine 2. photography & taking photos is fun and that’s something I just wish everyone would remember……..this is just how I do things and the way I like to do/shoot things, So here are a few of my tips and tricks into Blogging Photography.

Snap Happy Equipment -

When I first started blogging I used a holiday camera that couldn’t focus on anything for love nor money & moved up to iPads & my trusty little iPhone 5c. Now these worked brilliantly, but gradually after months & months of saving up for my dream DSLR I FINALLY purchased my Canon 700D a couple of months back…..now anyone will tell you, you don’t need an amazing, super-duper camera to take national art gallery worthy photos, a simple holiday camera or an iPhone like I had can just work as good as a fancy pantsy one. The Canon 700D is an amazing piece of kit right from the get-go I'm not going to lie, there is nothing I love more than snapping away knowing that I now uploaded a lot better quality photos for you guys and just have it in general for real life events and memories.

Between a little 'holiday' camera, an Iphone/Ipad & the Canon 700D there are of course differences, one being the price & other what it can actually achieve & the quality.....but you don't need to buy a super duper camera in order to take gorgeous photos, if you are happy with what you've got and it works perfectly fine then by all means stick with it, get to know what you can do with it and love it....but if you are wanting a DSLR then I very highly recommend you look no further than the Canon 700D It's not only gorgeous but is something worth every single penny & pound & just produces the most stunning quality photos.

When it comes to phones & iPads, Just remember with them that.....sometimes the quality of the photo (when blown up) can be a bit mmeehh. So fiddle around with lighting and stuff.

LIGHTS....Camera....Action -

Good lighting makes photos even more beautiful and really shows whatever your are snappings true representation & form. I have found that natural light works best, I used to use a basic everyday light bulb which never really showed what I wanted it to show, It just makes the whole image drowned in a gloomy yellow light, but if a yellow/beige everyday lightbulb works for you then you carry on. I tend to take my photos on bright and sunny days first thing in the mornings.....Now I'm not saying get up at the crack of dawn to take photos, but think about what you want to photograph/blog on and plan in advance it helps millions. Natural light really really works well. For one it doesn't cost anything & two...it really shows what you are talking about in it's true form. Studio lighting is what a lot of people use I currently don't own any studio lighting but hope to in the near future, as studio lighting is very bright a glowy and makes the product your photographing quite crisp. I will say though that with regards to lighting, one thing I've learnt hugely is don't take a photo into the light, because it won't show exactly what you want it to show. it will make it look dark and just shadows everything out. Flash is another thing that I kinda have a love & hate relationship with, it can sometimes be good and sometimes not, it can either work brilliantly & to your advantage or just it can just end up washing everything out.....it's all trial and error really. I don't tend to use the flash very often as you will see from my photos in my blog posts, I like to stick with the oh natural look. It's awesome for different things you want to photograph but not something that I tend to use too often.

Different shots = different light & vice versa, experiment and see what works best. Like I said it's all trial and error.

Smile & Say Cheese -

When taking the actual photo I think about every little detail right from lighting to background, to angles, to is my background cluttered? is it spacious, and I then think about what shots I want to take and do some damage to that shot button.......it's there to be used so just remember to use it to it's full power, in the worst case you don't like a photo you can simply delete it. That is the joys of owning a digital camera, if it's not the photo you want or you're unhappy with it you can simply delete it, and restart again.

I like to keep my background simple sometimes I'll add the odd bit of rose gold confetti & others a bit of a rustic/vintage wood background. One thing I will say is if you have lots of different things going on in one photo it can sometimes distract you & readers from what you are actually talking about so always remember background - clean and clear = a lot better shot & more focus on the product. Nobody likes seeing a pile of crap behind what is probably a gorgeous product & photo, so always make the product your full focus, not the stuff behind it.

Different angles are awesome too, I like to show different angles as you can see every nuck and cranny of the product, from every single view of the packaging, from it laying down, on it's side, lid off, lid on, bottom of the product ect. Even slightly tilting your actual camera can create such a different view of the product that can become quite effective.

Focus On Me -

If your camera doesn't focus then fiddle with the settings & get to know what each one does and how it gives a different setting to the lens, if your camera doesn't focus & you upload a somewhat blurry image it's like being in one of them eye test, tests...... the one where you can't see a blooming' thing and you need the optician to flick to the next frame in order to see anything hahaha. I particular love the little flower button (as I like to call it), It's amazing at focusing on fine details and products like lipsticks, blush, facemasks anything & everything really. Just get to know your settings and then you will take to it like a duck to water.

Editing -

Editing is actually one of my most FAVOURITE parts about photography for instance you take a shot you really like but it was a tiny teeny bit to dark.....simply change the levels ect. I use SO many different editing programmes from Befunky, Picmonkey, Pixlr & Pizap to name a few, and the best thing is that there are SO many amazing different things you can use to edit a photo.....Now when I say edit a photo I don't mean change every single thing and ruin the actually photo I just mean tweak the odd thing here & there. I LOVE using filters and I'm a completely sucker when it comes to X-Pro II on Instagram. Editing is about having fun, not about taking away what it actually is your photographing, so use filters as much or as little as you want but remember to keep the overall appearance of the product/photograph as real and genuine. The odd filter here and there is good but don't go OTT. Editing is something I personally love but remember to experiment, different editing programmes offer different things, just see what you like and then begin to fall head over heals in love with it.

And there you have it all my tips and advice for blogging photography........Now I'm going to go and catch some rays of sunshine whilst mr sun is still hanging about, as it's a very rare sight here in the uk.....but back to you....so you...yes you reading this grab your camera and get snapping......I hope this post inspires some of you and that you enjoy my tips & tricks.....just remember that photography is fun so don't take things too seriously and don't be so hard on yourself if things don't go or aren't going how you want/wish them too. If I'm stuck for inspo I'll start scrolling through instagram and then bang got a list as long as my arm of ideas, just get scrolling and searching for different photos to show different photography styles & ways, trust me you will find a HUGE amount of inspo. When I've typed a post and I've uploaded all the photos I wanted, I feel so much happier as I then feel that everything fits into place a good chunk of text & photos are what I like, I love seeing & reading blogs with lots of photos......but that's just my personal preference......As long as you are happy with what you are uploading and you love your photos then that is all that matters at the end of the day. I just thought that I would share with you all the way I do things so PLEASE don't feel like you have to follow everything I've said, I just simply wanted to share my experiences and tips with you in hope that I can inspire some of you to shake the dust of your camera. Just remember as long as YOU are happy & YOU like the photos you've taken & take then that's all that matters, and just carry on with what you enjoy & love.

Photography is fun and something that everyone should enjoy.

What are your tips & tricks to blogging photography?

REVIEW | Micellar Cleansing Water

I have never been one to join the hype of Micellar Cleasing waters, as I’ve had very weird experiences and never felt like they have got every single scrap of the days face off…..but seem as I ran out of my trusty, holy grail, Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, I thought I would grab The Garnier Skinactive Micellar Oil-Infused Cleasning Water for dry & sensitive skin. It’s one heck of a mouthful but It was one of them I hear lots about it, I’m gonna try it purchases…..like you guys know I love giving new products a whirl. But sadly this particular one hasn’t lived up to what I hoped….I really like the original of the Micellar Garnier water but I’ve not been a huge fan of this particular one.

This Micellar Water claims to nourish whilst also cleanse & remove makeup from your skin, but also promises to not leave your skin feeling greasy or leave an oily residue…….Now I have tired many a cleanser but this one is very different, don’t get me wrong I love the value for your money as it’s cheap & doesn’t break the bank and you do get a decent amount (400ml to be exact) for your moolah, I personally don’t agree with the non grease/oily claims as I found it to be on the greasy side which I suppose is because it’s an oil-infused water, but it did however make my makeup glided off, but I had to use at least a million cotton wall pads to get anything off and nearly the entire bottle. I like that its eye friendly but that’s about it really, even though I personally find it to be on the greasy side I simply get another cotton pad and swish around my face to absorb the excess oil, even though it says you don’t feel like you have too do that……..the only thing that I actually love about this product apart from the price & that it's eye friendly is the smell as it’s very fresh. I’ve been using this both morning and night for about 3 weeks now, and it’s good for only £3-£4……but…..and there is a but……I’ve not really felt like it’s properly cleansed my skin and got every scrap of makeup off, and has actually made my skin feel slightly dry. Which I’ve never had before with my other cleansers and water cleansers. To conclude I think this is a good product and is awesome if you are going away for a few days, but I wouldn’t class it as cleansing or a good water cleanser & I certainly wouldn't continue using it on a daily basis. It is bank friendly but I personally don’t think I will buy this particular one again. I ADORE the original one from Garnier as I feel like it really works & does keep to it’s claims & promise….but this one I’ve felt slightly disappointed with. Like people say nothing is quite as good as the original.

It’s good for a little quick wishy washy but not something for me, however it might be something for you.

Have you tried the Garnier Micellar Water & What are your thoughts?

Six Beauty Must Haves | July

As I type this blogpost it's peeing it down outside & I'm listening to christmas songs.......please don't judge hahaha, I know we are in JULY!!!! but I'm ready for christmas hahaha. Anyway as we are in July, I thought I'd share with you another one in my Six Beauty Must Haves but this time I would of course do July......July is a bit of a weird one really, one minute it's super sunny and roasting hot.....the next it's raining and then I'm grumpy, you may have guessed by now that I'm not a huge fan of July.......but when it has been sunny these are the things that I've been reaching for they are most definitely ideal for July.

Sanctuary Cooling Body Sorbet - An absolute summer heat godsend, I keep this in my handbag and It's UH-MA-ZING, note the word cooling.....well it actually cools your body down instantly and smells exactly like watermelon, I love the formula of this as it's very light but moisturising & hydrating at the same time, it's like having you have a giant cooling sheet around you when you pop it on.....honestly can't recommend this enough.

Toni & Guy Sea Salt Spray - I have very very long hair and having long hair means texturising sprays & sea salt spray is your best friend.....this is one product that I ALWAYS carry around with me, it leaves a perfect beach wavy look, I simply spray a couple of squirts in my hair, scrunch the ends & then ta da....perfect beach wavy hair that took less then 5 minutes. It's so quick and easy, I just LOVE,  LOVE, LOVE this spray it's SO good and smells beautiful.

Batiste Marrakech* - Sun, Heat & Hairstyles can sometimes not be great or turn out as well as you hoped, so batiste is always on hand for that fresh hair feeling & perfect hairstyle, I particularly love this Marrakech themed batiste, it's very fresh and instantly gives that fresh hair look & feeling, It doesn't leave white streaks in your hair and has the most nicest scent in the world, you can't go wrong with having one of these little lifesavers in your handbag.

Estee Lauder 02 Pink Seduction - Bit random but completely worth it, it's one of the most beautiful blushes I've ever used, as you can see it's already been much loved as I've hit pan, it's a trio of gorgeous peachy and pale pinks with a slight shimmer, it's very much like Estee Lauder's famous Tease blush.....it just leaves this beautiful healthy glow and instantly brightens your skin up. It's one blusher that is my all time favourite and looks SO nice in the summer........I'm not sure if this is limited edition or not but I'd highly recommend you grab this before it disappears.

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask - My skin can sometimes be quite dry and less hydrated in the summer, so this beauty I've been using non-stop and it's SO hydrating, simply do your skincare routine and then pop this on straight after any moisturiser or night cream you might use, it honestly works a treat, it's very very hydrating, doesn't feel heavy or like you have honey on your face (trust me I've had overnight masks like that and they are disgusting) it's really nourishing and your skin feels so much more happy and plump in the morning. One of the best overnight masks I've EVER used, Complete godsend.

Lait Apres-Soleil After Sun Lotion - I recently got this in a GlossyBox & I have used this when I've been out in the sun and caught a little bit of sunshine, I didn't think it would actually work but it actually does, it's not a lotion or a body cream it's actually a milk.......weird I know but simply massage a little bit on where the sun has kissed you and it stops redness and soothes sunburn like a dream, it's very hydrating and I just know that when I run out of this tube I will most definetly be buying a full size tube.

And that is everything that you need this july, quite a nice mix.

What are your must haves for this July?

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie | Review

When it comes to haircare, I’m one of them girls that has tried every product named under the sun, and some have been awesome others haven’t quite lived up to what I’d hoped......but one product that I’ve been SUPER impressed with recently is this......It’s the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Luscious Long Deep Treatment, designed for long and damaged hair......

Now I got a sample of this in a previous GlossyBox & used it straight away......after one single wash I could feel and see the difference in my hair it was crazy....so I went ahead & placed a very late night cheeky order on Feelunique.com and of course added this gem to the pile that was waiting to be ordered in my basket. I’ve always walked past Aussie in boots or superdrug as they were never a haircare brand that I was instantly drawn too before now, my nan and sister have always been obsessed with them, I always thought that their hair stuff was only for curly hair queens as my nan and sister both have curly hair (I have straight hair) and have always used their products, I just never thought that they were a brand that did products for my hair, but they do infact have a HUGE range for ALL hair types, which I didn’t know about at all......(I must have been living under a rock or something)......I love the smell of Aussie products and since trying this hair treatment I’ve gone and purchased more of their hair care products including dry shampoo, actual shampoo & get this.....they even do shower gels in the scents *pulls hell to the yes face/ pug in excitement face*.

I didn’t expect for it to work or as it promise a ‘miracle’ hair treatment, but I’ve honestly been SO impressed with it, that I just had to share it with you all, so you can all fall in love with it just as much as I have. The 3 Minute Miracle Hair Treatment/Conditioner is ideal for those of us with long, some-what damaged or dry hair. It’s so hydrating and is packed with Australian Eucalyptus, Avocado Oil & adds the most gorgeous shine to your hair........It's nickname is even Long-Locks Love Potion, you know them fancy hair adverts well it leaves your hair like that just after one wash it’s incredible, my hair just feels soft, comforted and nourished all in one little dollop of this miracle hair treatment, It’s really helped with the dryness of my hair as with it being very long the ends tend to be a bit unloved and in need of a lil bit of TLC and this most DEFINITELY does that......it’s hydrating & is amazing on split ends……I just can’t recommend this enough, I LOVE the packaging FINALLY one brand has noticed that clicky bottle lids are a pain in the backside. With this all you do is simply grab the bottle and squeeze now mucking around with lids and caps, your sorted.

There is nothing bad about this product at all, the packaging is fantastic but what’s even more amazing is the actual product.......my hair has NEVER felt this good and hydrated, I will most definitely be getting my hands on some more Aussie goodness. It not only smells divine it keeps it’s ‘miracle’ promise, It does exactly what it says on the bottle and has no disappointments......if you try one product this month, make sure it’s this little gem, trust me it’s worth it. It really does revitalise your hair, & deeply hydrates, it's just a hair care saviour.

Have you tried any Aussie Hair Products?

GlossyBox | July

One thing that I have become completely obsessed with since subscribing to them is GlossyBox, and this months box is no exception. All pretty in pink, it landed on my door step nice and early, filled with so many different things one being a new makeup brush too.

This months GlossyBox contains:

Blank Canvas Flat F20 Brush
Icona Milano Emotion Allowed Mascara
A Utan And Tone Nourishing Night Creme
Hair De-Tangle Brush
A Soft & Gentle Hair Minimise Anti Perspirant

There is nothing in this box that I’m not happy with and nothing that I won’t use, apart from the Night Cream as it apparently leaves a tan, with my being a long lost sister of Caspar the friendly ghost I think I will pass this one on to someone else.

Soft & Gentle Antiperspirant - The Soft & Gentle Deodorant smells SO good and promises quite a few things which will be interesting to see if it actually lives up to what it promises, I’ve never been one to try Soft & Gentle products before as I’m a big fan of dove & mitchum deodorants, but I am looking forward to trying this one out.

Icona Milano Waterproof Mascara - I’ve never heard of Icona Milano until now but this is one mascara that claims to give a false lash effect to your lashes whilst not leaving any smudges due to heat & water and is humidity resistant, I like the black and white packaging however I wouldn’t be instantly drawn to it, if I walked past it in Superdrug or Boots, again it promises a fair few things so we shall see if it actually is heat and humidity resistant, I think the name Emotions Allowed is a bet meh, I don’t know why but the name……it slightly reminds me of funerals which is probably not what you want your mascara to remind you of.……well at least I don’t.

Hairon De-Tangle Brush - with a look like a tangle teezer I know I’m going to love this, I have very long hair and it’s always knotty or tangled and my much loved tangle teezer has been looking a bit sorry for itself, so this came just in the nick of time. I love the colour as it’s duck egg blue, and I always carry my tangle teezer with me in my handbag, so it will be nice to switch things around and have this one with me, it leaves your hair tangle free without snagging or tugging too.

Blank Canvas Flat F20 Brush - I have never come across or heard of Blank Canvas brushes until now, I have a slight obsession with brushes and this one is just gorgeous, it’s SO fluffy and I can’t wait to use this to buff in foundation or concealer it can also be used as a powder brush too, it’s very soft and feels very luxurious.

All the products inside this months box are all full sized which is fantastic, as for only £10 (plus P+P) you got £47.47 worth of products for only £10…..GlossyBox have got it spot on when it comes to value for money and actually cherry pick the best products from many different brands. I can’t recommend this beauty box brand highly enough.

What's In My Skincare Draw?

Today I thought I would keep to my promise, and share with you a little insight into my Skincare Draw, it's packed with lots of different brands and changes ever so often but in the mean time here's what's inside my Skincare Draw. My draw slots are from Muji. I have the same little containers for my makeup collection........I would firstly like to say that I know that some of you might think this is a way too big skincare collection, but to me it's filled with little gems so please don't judge and lets enjoy have a lil snoop around my over grown skincare draw.

As you can see I have quite an array, of different products and different brands, ranging from drugstore/highstreet to highend. Like I said I'm a very skincare loving and obsessed girl not just because of my real life job but because I know that a good base makes good makeup, and trust me them words couldn't be truer.

Starting from the left we have the:

Clean Me/ Take It Away section

As you've guessed it, this little section is filled with my cleansers one being a mini Charlotte Tilbury & the other being my trusty Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, both of which work a dream at cleansing the days face away and refreshing my new face in the morning, I also pop my favourite toner water in this section which is of course every bloggers favourite Pixi Glow Tonic Water, along with them little gems I also have a mini Charlotte Tilbury Eye Makeup remover.

Moisturise Me Section

This little section is filled with my current two moisturiser as well as a mini Estee Lauder day cream sample I was given to try out, I'm loving Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream at the moment as it's so hydrating and feels like a spa treatment on your face it's just beautiful, I then of course have my all time favourite EVER, EVER, EVER moisturiser by Clinique and it's the moisture surge extended thirst relief gel, not going to ramble like a usually do but honestly this moisturiser is UH-MA-ZING and I LOVE it.

Eyewise section

I currently have three eyecreams on the go, one being my very trusty Kiehl's Avocado Eye cream which I've raved about time & time again, and another two which I'm testing out, both of the other two are part of the Clinique Moisture Surge Range and I'm testing out the difference between the two, the one on the left is very very light where as the other is much more richer and thicker in consistency, both I'm really enjoying using & will keep you update on them.

Kiss Me Section

I always apply a lip balm to my lips last thing at night and first thing in the morning, these two the Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm & Burt's Bees Mango Lip Balm always keep my lips hydrated and soft, I alternate between them but tend to use the Nuxe one a little bit more in the autumn & winter months.

Masks Upon Masks Section

One thing I've recently jumped on the bandwagon a lot more with lately is overnight masks, might sound scary but honestly they are AAAAmmmazing, your skin feels so much more hydrated after using an overnight mask and you can really see & feel the difference, I have quite an array including my favourite Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask (told you I'm a HUGE fan of the moisture surge range) which is just a godsend in a bottle, I also have a mini Charlotte Tilbury Facemask, this one you do however wash off but works a treat as you feel like you have baby soft skin after using it. Then finally sitting pride of place we have my favourite The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask, which you can actually pick up right now in certain Body Shop stores for only £14 something #BARGAIN......it's a weird texture, but is a gel & a cream combined in one.....note the word bouncy, this mask you can actually push your fingers in it and it will leave a dent that bonces straight back, it's a bit like when you go to the beach & you stand in quick sand hahaha, all of these are SUPER hydrating and rejuvenating to my skin and I couldn't recommend them all highly enough.

Extras & Other Necessities Section

And right at the side of my skincare draw I pop little extras, as well as bits & bobs that I need or will need ever so often, I of course have my trusty Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, this stuff has saved my skin countless of times and I just LOVE it, it's hydrating but also amazing at healing cuts, sores, spots (LIFE SAVER) basically everything & anything. I then have some oval cotton pads as I use these to pop my toner on.......

And that is everything inside my skincare draw, I love knowing and seeing what other people use on their skin, I also love finding new hidden beauty products that are available so do let me know If I'm missing out on anything that would be nice for my skin & well for the draw aswell. I hope you've enjoyed having a snoop round my skincare draw.

What's inside your Skincare Draw?
